Fracture
Xbox 360 / Playstation 3 / Shoot ‘em up / 50 hZ
Hardcore /Casual
Ok, so we all know about global warming. Correct? Indeed. By the year 2161, with, let’s face it, everybody’s ever increasing ‘Carbon Footprint”, the ice-caps should surely have melted away unlike anything else- but would they do so to the extent that the Mississippi river overflows, splits USA in two, and causes a (technically) civil war? That’s exactly what is predicted in this ambitious Shoot ‘em up by everybody’s favourite obscure games designer Lucas-Arts. (Who incidentally make most Star Wars games!)
The first thing I noticed when I played this game is the graphics. When the multipurpose Y-Button/ Triangle Button is held down (default button settings), your lucky character is able to run at incredible speeds past the enemy, with smooth consequences. An awesome and delightful aspect of this already impressive shooter is the weapons, in particular the Pacifican SMG and the Dragon’s Breath- weapons I have achievements for my kill counts with. The storyline is so good that it is not to be spoilt.
I am blown away by this incredible game, from its controversial, hard-hitting storyline down to its ambitious and solid achievements. Despite this, it is still strictly really one for the lads.
Over all, Lucas-Arts and Day 1 studios have done themselves proud- with a shooter that has it all. From immense armoury to the concept of moving terrain to get to destinations and sometimes even to crush enemies to the ceiling about them. This is a game to rival the epic Halo 3 and Gears of War 1.
